The Ornamental Pattern Of Blue Willow China
There are some patterns on china that are created to be very flamboyant in appearance. The blue willow china was designed by Thomas Minton and has a blue colour harking back to the blue delft pieces. This design dates back to the late seventeen hundreds, with the first pieces highly fascinating collectibles. These plates, like several others from prior periods in time, have a history behind some of the scenes they use.
Lots of ornamental scenes on plates were influenced by the oriental culture. These scenes frequently include trees like the willow, as well as characters, animals, bridges and temples. Oriental designs can be found on recent pieces of china as well. There are a few modern designs using straightforward designs with hand painted flowers, The latest pieces regularly come in the new square formed dishes and bowls, with some pieces having more intricate designs than others.
While the collectible pieces of china are not used as dinnerware, the modern styles are. For a sublime table setting, a set of dishes with an enameled border in vibrant red or cobalt blue with etching in gold work best. These special dishes can be used for holiday entertaining and regularly come in collections which have matching platters and turrets designed for serving. This extended type of service can also be found in modern day blue willow china.
In addition to the platter and turret, a complete set can also include a pitcher, a serving bowl and a sugar bowl. This design can also be found in tea sets with matching cups and saucers. The products today are often made from ceramic though they use the conventional deep blue coloring for the photographs in the patterns.
Using decorative china is one way folk can make a formal table setting for a special occasion. When the modern pieces are not in use their elaborate designs can be displayed by storing them within a china cupboard with glass doors. A plate holder will keep the dish in an upright position so it can be viewed thru the glass in the door. Plates and other dinnerware objects created with special designs on them can boost a table for a special meal, or an entire room when placed on a shelf or in a cupboard for viewing.
