Frequently Asked Questions...
Can I have a Miniature Horse or Falabella in the suburbs?
I figured that they are not much bigger than the average large dog and I really want a full-sized horse but don't have the money or space to have one. I already have riding lessons but that doesn't seem like enough. I once went to Concord, CA and people were keeping Minis and Fallabellas in their front yards! These yards were not much bigger than my current front yard so I just don't know. I don't have the money to lease a horse either. My parents are giving me $200 for my b-day and I thought I could keep saving from there. My plan is when I have enough money to go to my parents and just ask them to think about it. Do you think it's a good idea?
Please help and answer all questions!
Thanks!
A HORSE DESPERATE GIRL
Answer:
It depends on the zoning of the area where you live- many areas do not allow them and they really should have a nice amount of space ( at least a large yard) to roam around in.
Call your local boro or township and ask.
They run 500 dollars and up where I live in Pa - they have many farms here where they raise them.
It also cost a lot for their shots and vet bills so 200( more like 2000) won't cut it! You will need a job!
They are really cute but are not ridable and really are more of a pet like a dog but more work!
i wanted to get one too- but I just don't have the time and money!
Maybe for you it would be better to invest in riding lessons or save up and board a horse.
