Frequently Asked Questions...

What is your opinion on the new Yankee Stadium?

A year ago it seemed so far away! But now that the new Stadium is about to open, what are your thoughts?

I really don't think they should tear Yankee Stadium down. The ghosts probably won't be pleased. Plus, they had never won a World Series before Yankee Stadium, will they win one after? I hope so, but stranger things have happened!

Answer:

I was lucky enough to attend one of the very last tours at Yankee Stadium 10/29 (last one was 10/31). It was amazing. The history in that park is second to none. I know many things are being moved to the new stadium, but it's never going to be the same.

One of the things that stuck with me from the tour was the left field foul pole of all things. There were signatures from various fans who attended games over the years. Dates scribbled down with the score of the game that night. It was almost like you got a brief glimpse through the years of the fans who cheered, booed, celebrated championships and cried when the final out was recorded forever closing the doors of Yankee Stadium.

The new stadium looks like a cathedral. It's absolutely stunning. No doubt it will be state of the art. The history will be there in spirit, but it just won't be the same. New history will be made there. Hopefully that new history will keep people talking about the old history that occurred across the street. The legends that played there are only done a disservice once they are forgotten. Keep them alive...teach the history of this great game to someone who wasn't around to see it.
