Riding Lessons And Trail Rides
She tossed back her blond hair as she stood in the windy ring. Staring down at her brown boots, she thought about the pair of expensive cowboy boots she wanted. They were gleaming black with inlaid patterns in aqua blue. She smiled as she thought about all the kids making jokes about wanting the fanciest boots. All they could afford were another brand, less expensive but not bad looking.
She walked towards the gate of the ring to bring the little boy in for his riding lesson. He approached her eagerly and she put the reins over the small pinto's head. She took Eric to the left side of the horse and went over the basic instructions. He listened closely as she helped him up on the horse's back.
His mother waved from the other side of the fence. The blond riding instructor smiled at her. Now turning her attention to Eric, she started the lesson. She explained what neck reining is and how to lean your weight in the direction you turn the horse in. He was doing very well.
The first day his mother brought him out to the stables to sign up for riding lessons they had a friendly chat as Eric went over to look at the horses. She mentioned that she wanted to get into riding too. She thought thought that would be how to lose tummy fat, by bouncing along on a horse. The pretty blond girl laughed and said she didn't see any reason for the young mother to lose weight.
They finished up the business and payment for the series of six riding lessons for Eric. After he was used to riding in the ring, the three of them could take a leisurely trail ride along the adjoining bridle paths. You could spend an hour or two out on the trails.
They chatted about the rest area in the middle of the trail ride. Everyone would get off their horse and sit down in the grass for a few minutes. She usually cantered the horses into the rest stop. Eric could not run away since livery horses automatically stopped when they entered the rest area.
They would dismount and sit on the grass for a few minutes while letting the horses graze. Everyone pulled the reins over the horses' heads and kept holding on until it was time to mount up again. It was a pleasant time with everyone chatting about what fun they were having.
After Eric's sixth lesson, they planned a trail ride for the following week. He was able to mount the horse by himself. He knew how to use the reins to start, stop and turn the horse. His confidence in himself was bolstered by how well he was doing. All three of them looked forward eagerly to next weeks' trail ride. The mom would then know if riding was how to reduce tummy fat.
