I'm not too sure about certain hairstyles that would help, but out of regular knowledge, the shorter, the better. the longer your hair gets, the more the ends tangle. plus it puts more weight on the hair.... BUT then again, not too short, or else you may look like a mushroom. since curly hair is so poofy.
I will suggest the Tigi Catwalk line of curl products. I have wavy hair and I use them on mine and it gives me beautiful, defined curls. They also have a curl lotion (don't remember the exact name) that will cut down on frizzness!
But please don't straighten it! Curly hair is beauuutiful. I think it has so much character. 
I bet other people with stick straight hair are envious of yours.
